Underpainting white is a semi-opaque white which has been formulated with linseed oil. Its special drying properties (fast drying!) makes this white perfectly suited for underpainting artworks as it reduces the danger of crackling effects in the coloured shades applied on the white layer. Due to the high amount of linseed oil contained, underpainting white slightly tends to yellow. If pure whites for painting or mixing are required, we recommend to choose among titanium, mixing or zinc white.
